As Chief Seismologist, I present the weekly global seismic activity report for the period of May 25 to May 31, 2026.
Our global monitoring network maintained continuous surveillance, detecting significant tectonic adjustments across major plate boundaries.

Regional Analysis and Trends
Weekly Activity Overview
During this seven-day monitoring window, our instruments recorded a total of 4,469 seismic events globally.
While the majority of these events represented minor background release, a total of 42 earthquakes registered at magnitude 5.0 or higher.
Significant Events
The most notable tectonic event of the week occurred in Northern Chile, registering a peak magnitude of 6.8.
This substantial release of energy along the subduction zone was monitored closely by our regional partners.
No major tsunami warnings were triggered, but the event underscores the ongoing high activity within the Pacific Ring of Fire.
